Jockeying For Political Advantages
Jockeying means to maneuver for a certain position or advantage, and various countries had made efforts to appear as the dominant for that time period. The Korean War were focused or created because of political reasons/political causes. All over were arguments and troubles because of communists trying to take over, starting from the Soviet, and spreading throughout China and the North of Asia. Then there were the nationalists who were trying to stop the spreading of communists, which include the U.S. and U.N. The US and the USSR were the major powers, even though they were politically different, USSR being communists, and US anti-communist. Egypt, India, and Yugoslavia had formed the Non-Aligned Movement(NAM), which was a group of states which are not aligned formally with or against any major power bloc.
The U.S came up with the Marshall plan, because if Western Europe was strong enough, then it could prevent spread of communism. The Marshall plan gave economic aid to countries in Western Europe to strengthen Europe, this point being where the U.S. began to enter the Cold War. To end the Korean War, President Eisenhower had decided to switch from limited war objectives to total war, like the Soviet had been using. He had then threatened the USSR by saying the U.S. will use nuclear methods if they continue with total war, thus ending the Korean War.
