General Douglas MacArthur
General Douglas MacArthur was assigned supreme Allied commander by President Truman in 1945 at the end of the Pacific War, then had been removed from that position afterwards."When the North Korean army invaded South Korea in 1950, MacArthur was placed in command of the newly created United Nations forces and quickly drove back the attack". MacArthur had begun advocating an ambitious strike on peninsula's west coast at Inchon, during the Inchon Landings conflicts that had taken place in the Korean War.
MacArthur and his naval forces had landed in Korea when North Korea had almost captured the southern part of Korea, Douglas and his naval forces had forced the Northern forces to retreat.
"The Inchon Landing gave a clear and strong perception to all South Koreans that General MacArthur saved the country and its ideology."

The role of General MacArthur in the Korean War was pretty big to the Koreans, to the South Koreans, MacArthur was a great savior, he had helped make the northerners retreat and had saved them. He had been a "brave and brilliant soldier" to most, and without his "daring and successful military maneuvers" North Korea would possibly not have retreated and would've taken over the southern part too.
